At the turn of a new year, we like to reflect on what has happened, and we think about the things that we want to change for the next year. It is noble to want to improve yourself, but be mindful about the way you approach it. Do not aim to be perfect, try to be better. Don’t measure your success against others, but notice small improvements in yourself. We spend a lot of time being hard on ourselves, and this attitude only leads to vicious cycles and negative outcomes. When we only measure our happiness against the end result, the value of the struggle through the process is lost. The struggle is where we learn and grow. Struggle equals improvement.
Have you been too comfortable? Was 2016 frustrating because you were not challenged enough? In 2017, instead of trying to cut something out, why not try to add something positive to your life that will push you to be better?
